Why Choose Us for Log Home Restoration

Exposure to the sun is the main cause of deterioration when working with wood. The harmful UV rays tend to cause a "sunburn" which creates a grey or darkened area in the wood. As the wood darkens, the sun is attracted to the darker colored pigments in the wood grain resulting in increased deterioration. A similar comparison would be wearing a white or black shirt on a hot summer day. Our method of preperation for log home refinishing requires the logs to be stripped down to a fresh "white" log.

The customer has the option to continue to bring our the grain of the wood with a light finishing sand by hand, or move directly onto staining. This varies on customer preference and the species and state of the wood. Approximately half of log homes will be ready for stain after blasting without any additional hand sanding.
